Deathmatch in Overwatch is Now Confirmed

In these days where Overwatch users are enjoying the Overwatch Summer Games, the community continues to expect the Blizzard game to include more and more content. It’s not just about including skins and covering weeks of play with new seasons and specific events, but getting new content such as maps, characters and game modes. It is precisely this last aspect that Blizzard has been assessing to include, where despite being reluctant to the option they have presented, they have finally made concrete the arrival of the popular Deathmatch mode to Overwatch.

In these days where Overwatch users are enjoying the Overwatch Summer Games, the community continues to expect the Blizzard game to include more and more content. It’s not just about including skins and covering weeks of play with new seasons and specific events but getting new content such as maps, characters, and game modes. It is precisely this last aspect that Blizzard has been assessing to include, where despite being reluctant to the option they have presented, they have finally made concrete the arrival of the popular Deathmatch mode to Overwatch.

Jeff Kaplan himself, Game Director, was responsible for making this decision known through this video. This is a video explaining that the team responsible for Overwatch has valued the option to include this mode of play. A decision that was suggested in the past at BlizzCon, but that they rejected since Overwatch had been developed to be a competitive game in equipment. Thinking that was not the right thing for the game, this option had been rejected, but today is news because it is the next game that will reach Overwatch.

But the arrival of Arcade Mode to Overwatch was a success, and from there it seems that things have changed. These changes in the Overwatch approach is what opens the door to Deathmatch Mode. With this mode of play, all that original and competitive approach in competitive matches is altered to offer the classic game mode of shooters, where what matters is to add deaths. Integrated into the arcade mode, the first players will receive arcade rewards and will encourage them to continue playing.

Of course, if you do not go for free, also describes the arrival of Team Deathmatch, so some of the original concepts is maintained. Currently, these game modes are in development and, because of this, testers are requested to test the mechanics on any of the maps that have been presented specifically for Overwatch Deathmatch Mode.
