Patrick Söderlund believes there’s no reason for the Mass Effect-fans to be afraid.
Electronic Arts’ executive vice president told GameReactor the following: „I’ve seen people saying ‘Oh, EA’s not making another Mass Effect.’ I see no reason why we shouldn’t come back to Mass Effect. Why not? It’s a spectacular universe, it’s a loved [series], it has a big fanbase, and it’s a game that has done a lot for EA and BioWare.”
However, Söderlund says that they have to be careful – if the series return, it has to be in a fresh, new, exciting, and relevant way. (Does it mean that they would leave Andromeda’s plot behind as well?) If the next game ever happens, it will not be developed by BioWare Montreal – that team was folded by Electronic Arts into Jade Raymond’s (Assassin’s Creed, Jade Empire) Motive studio.
Right now, BioWare is working on Anthem, as well as the next Dragon Age game, so until these are close to completion, don’t even expect to hear anything regarding the next Mass Effect game…
