Supermassive Sees Huge Potential In PlayLink!

The developers of Until Dawn thinks the PlayLink initiative is going to be successful.

Sony announced these casual, smartphone/tablet usage-allowing games at E3, and one of these titles are That’s You! Supermassive is also working on such a title called Hidden Agenda. Regarding this game, two of the developers talked to the GamesTM magazine, from which WCCFTech has taken a quote.

Will Doyle, game director: „I think the gaming industry’s expansion to bigger audiences has been happening for a while. It’s games as experiences, instead of standard game theory challenges. In Supermassive it’s something that we’ve thought about before; in Until Dawn, you could play through, and it didn’t matter if you died, you still had a well-rounded experience. But, on the flip side, there is always a place for another type of experience. The potential audience has certainly broadened, but there will always be the hardcore – and we are better for it.”

Jez Harris, senior producer: „And neither market is diminished by the existence of the other, that’s the main thing. I think it just means more people are playing games, so you need things to appeal to more tastes. That’s awesome for us! I think we are playing a big part in it with this stuff, and Sony with PlayLink, full stop. They have obviously done it before at various points in PlayStation lifecycles with Buzz, Singstar and whatever else that has come before; they always recognize that there is a time when they can make it go bigger, and it’s great to be involved because it’s important.”

The next game by the Until Dawn devs will launch on October 24/25 (North America/Europe) on PlayStation 4. It is going to be a competitive multiplayer narrative game – crime investigation with friends!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
