The Witcher’s Netflix Series Will Not Be „Watered Down!”

MOVIE NEWS – According to its writer, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Defeders, Daredevil), The Witcher’s Netflix-series will try to be as realistically medieval as possible without it being dumbed down.

Hissrich answered a fan comment on Twitter, which says: „I hope they don’t water down the harsh environment that was medieval times. The world of the Witcher is not a nice fantasy world where everyone is happy. Geralt as a voice of reason is fine, the world being a believable version of medieval Poland is important.” How did she reply? „There will be no watering down. I give you my word.”

Hissrich knows there’s pressure on her, but he tries her best. „New day, more maps, (much) more coffee. Time to break this pilot!”, one of her tweet reads. During December, he interacted a lot with the fans, and she revealed some of the inspiration behind her work. She cited three novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of The Witcher: Blood of Elves, The Last Wish, and Sword of Destiny.

Since only the script is being written for the pilot, don’t expect The Witcher to be up on Netflix in a few months at least…
