Europe Likes Retro Gaming, Survey Says!

A survey came up with this result, which isn’t surprising on the surface. Below that, though, things are different.

Ipsos MORI created a survey about retro gaming, and people in the United Kingdom, Spain, France, and Germany answered via phone, face-to-face, or online. The result explains why retro products, such as Nintendo’s NES and SNES mini consoles, are so successful.

49% of the answerers (!) admitted that they like playing old games, and one of the main reasons behind their purchase is the nostalgia. Also, 41% of the respondents claim that they’d like to play games that they missed when they were new.

The situation isn’t entirely rosy, though: only 22% thinks that the newer games are worse than the older ones, and at least 45% of the respondents think that realistic graphics are an important element of a game… and those who played old games, 38% of them were disappointed as those weren’t how they originally remembered them.

No wonder why there are rumors about Nintendo developing the N64 mini…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
