PlayStation 4: Fresh Sales Data, But Not All Are Rosy!

Sony revealed its newest PlayStation 4 sales figures.

Back in October, Sony announced that the PlayStation 4, which launched in November 2013, was at 67.5 million shipped units. The previous quarter year added 9 million to that number, which means that Sony’s console is at 76.5 million at the moment. It’s not bad, but we need to point out that this is a year-on-year drop, as 2016’s last quarter had 9.7 million shipped units!

The 2017 April-2018 March period still has 19 million PlayStation 4s shipped as the goal, and the console stands at 16.5 million right now – with some maths, you could figure out that 2.5 million is required in early 2018 to hit the target. As 2017 Q1 had 2.9 million PS4s shipped, it seems like a realistic goal, especially with the release of Monster Hunter World…

Sony’s Games & Network arm (which is where the PlayStation brand is) had a positive result, which is thanks to the increased game sales, including on the PlayStation Network. At least there are some positives here.

Sony is in good standing at the moment.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
