Life of Black Tiger – The Story Of Drunk Black Tiger And The Unity Engine

REVIEW – If I open with the question WHAT’S THIS?, then it wouldn’t describe the situation as seriously as it should be done… but still, it’s the best way to start. What IS THIS? Gentlemen, ladies, robots, other sexuality-having readers, this game managed to creep onto the PlayStation 4 in a way that even Sony advertised it…

I’m not joking, this game is STILL available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for ten dollars. This game is the most unbelievable-to-understand titles on PlayStation Network.

Story

I’m going to quote this from the PlayStation Network, and I don’t need to link to the game again. „The story of the game is about a black tiger, born as a variant and abandoned by his parents and brothers, fights against human and shows his love to his family. You can have a vivid and realistic experience through set in jungle, field, and forest surroundings in game. Acting as a cruel hunter in the vast plains and fields, players are thrown into a fight against human beings and other beast of prey.” I’ll take a breath here – yes, the English is indeed this broken, and in the game, it’s even worse than on the PSN! I’ll continue: „3D Display with compatible 3D glasses (sold separately) required for 3D features.” I don’t think Life of Black Tiger has anything related to 3D, and there’s no point in quoting anything else aside from this wonderful list of features:

„1 player

Network Players 2-20

3D Game

Online Play (Optional)”

I still didn’t describe the life of black tiger, so let’s get into the game first… but before we nosedive into this piece of crap, have a look at the trailer from the official (!!!) PlayStation channel…

No story

What in the f is this game?! Life of Black Tiger is a port of a mobile game on the PlayStation 4. The website looks funny, and going to the devs’ Twitter account, it’s safe to say that they are South Korean. It’s already a LOL situation when this Unity engine game (I’ll write in detail later why) gets ported to the PlayStation 4 with pretty much no effort. Sure, there are a few shovelware titles on Sony’s console, too (Dogchild, Sword of Fortress Onomuzim… and a few more), but all this game is just a goddamn asset flip. Basic textures, graphics, sound effects, with virtually no original ideas or concepts added to the mix.

At the beginning of the game, the tiger eats a few humans, then a few animals (at one point, it’s a rhinoceros (!!!) in the tiger’s mouth like it was a paper bag and not something with several hundreds of pounds of weight), then he meets a female tiger, we bring her animals, defend against a horde of wolves until the timer runs out, whatever. At the end of the game, you control a human, which burns everything (!), poisons a few animals (!!), then hunts both tigers, which ends with an asset flip woman on screen for five minutes, then you get an image with few lines of text. That’s all the ending has, I’m not joking:

Lack of quality

This game is such a huge asset flip that I wouldn’t be able to describe it without cursing. I already saw similar products on PC (in fact, I tried to play through some of them), one being Wolf Simulator. Basic Unity font, graphics (the forest is a carbon copy of the things I have seen in Life of Black Tiger…), and even the wolves look the same. The similarity is uncanny.

Have a look at the iOS original. I think there’s ZERO improvements in the PlayStation 4 version (okay, I’m not entirely correct… there is some, but not enough), so I could go as far and say that I have seen better visuals in a PlayStation 1 game (and let’s not forget that this console launched at the end of 1994…). The visuals suck. Music? The trailer’s theme is stolen, the quality of the sound effects are questionable, such as the attack of black tiger (which sounds just like the slamming of an old balcony door).

Oh, the game is meant to be an RPG, because it gives you points. Sorry, it PENALIZES points… yet you get them. When I said that the English in the game is broken, I wasn’t joking. „I’m going to see the wolves’ blood,” „smells of wolves’ blood,” „let’s hunt deer,” „let’s kill every wolves found,” and my personal favorite: „A boss of the wolves and his subordinates came to me to revenge for the killed collagues. I’ll never step back. Let’s survive till the fixed time.” That’s how garbage the English is in this game!

Hunt

I’m finally talking about the gameplay on the third page… so there’s black tiger that wipes with his paw. There’s a green bar under him that indicates the HP, same for the enemies. No, there’s no such thing as a normal HUD that you should expect from most of today’s games – instead, you have to look at a small bar to see how close I am to death. Most of the gameplay has animals that do not even strike back, and usually, you just face one enemy type per mission.

The rhinos strike back, but it is hilarious to see two of them PILE ON EACH OTHER, followed by the second one walk around aimlessly in mid-air. Oh, back to the points for a bit: yes, this game does have an RPG element. You can upgrade yourself in three ways („attack, defence, move”), and the attack is the best way to go, although, on level 8, it already requires you to pay 48400 points to boost to the next level, and you usually get less than ten thousand after one mission. You can also upgrade other animals, but honestly, who on earth would bother maxing out all the animals?!

NO

This game (?) which isn’t even requiring a single gigabyte on your hard drive, is likely getting the LOWEST rating on PS4Pro ever. (It’s fine, the stupid reviewer had a lot of fun, and he’ll get paid extra for it anyway!) It’s an atrocious thing, which means it deserves a single (!) digit percentage. Life of Black Tiger is 1/10 without a doubt. This game has been available on PlayStation Network FOR OVER A YEAR now.

I can’t even say a single positive thing about it. You can buy an asset flip like this on Steam for a dollar. This thing is tarnishing Sony’s and PlayStation 4’s reputation. I cannot say anything else. Don’t buy it. It’s also on PlayStation’s website, too…

Grabbing controllers since the middle of the nineties. Mostly he has no idea what he does - and he loves Diablo III. (Not.)
