P7: Will Remedy’s Game Launch Next Year?

Remedy Entertainment also published its financial report.

It mentions that the development of the single-player campaign of CrossFire 2 (and its payout to Remedy) is going according to plan, and it’s continuing this year, too. This isn’t that interesting, so let’s move on to P7.

This game will be published by 505 Games, and there are no issues with the development – it quit the pre-production phase, and the plan is to release the game in 2019! Unless there will be some problems during development, then we might see the game with its promised high replayability, multiplayer, and the devs’ Northlight engine by the end of next year.

„In addition to our two game projects underway, we launched the preliminary preparations for a new game project at the end of 2017. During 2018, the company will have two game projects in the production phase, in which both the personnel expenses caused by them and purchases of external services are at their highest. One of the projects is the company’s own game brand codenamed P7, in which the company’s own financing plays a significant role. At the same time, the company will launch a third game project, continuing recruitment and other investments supporting the growth strategy,” the report says.

„We have developed further the Northlight technology that serves our games, and also strengthened further the team developing it. In particular, multiplayer, artificial intelligence and animation technologies, as well as our game development tools, have taken significant steps forward,” Remedy says regarding the Northlight engine.

Let’s end with the usual financial figures: a 1.9% year-on-year revenue increase between July and December – the full year revenue increased by 4.6% for a total of € 17.2 million. The number of employees jumped from 135 to 149 in 2017, and it’s one of the reasons why the Finns are moving to a new studio in 2018.
