Unsurprisingly, the new Metal Gear game sells much worse than its predecessors…
In the United Kingdom, Metal Gear Survive (which has several hidden references to Kojima Productions – we wrote about them yesterday) launched as the sixth best-selling game. That doesn’t sound bad on paper, but if we compare the performance with the previous spin-off, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Survive sold 85% less! The spin-off was only able to achieve FIVE percents of the first-week sales of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain…
On Steam, it hardly reaches top fifty, but we’re curious to see how it fares on the PlayStation Network – if it doesn’t get into the top twenty, we’ll have a good laugh at the result. But let’s take a look at the UK charts as well.
Last week was won by FIFA 18 (again), followed by Grand Theft Auto V (these two games never drop out of the charts), and Call of Duty: WWII. Monster Hunter World reached 4th, Shadow of the Colossus got 7th place, respectively.
Konami will hardly set the world on fire with Metal Gear Survive. Without Kojima, Metal Gear will never be the same, and they should accept it.
