Even The Xbox One X’s CPU Isn’t Enough?

A developer would like to see improvements for the currently strongest console.

Egress is going to be a battle royale game with a Souls-like combat system. It is in development at Fazan Studios for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. GamingBolt got a few thoughts from Fazan’s Constantine. He says that until the base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One model is the baseline for the games in development, there will be no improvement. It’s understandable.

He added that the Xbox One X, which has 12 gigabytes of RAM available for the developers (the PlayStation 4 Pro in comparison has 9 GB), won’t increase the RAM requirements. He also said that currently, the bottleneck (the technical limitation) for most games lies dormant in the CPU. He’d like to see CPU upgrades for the Redmond product.

Maybe with software upgrades (command processing, core allocations), it can be done. Otherwise, it’s far too late: Microsoft has admitted developing the next hardware (family?) at E3 this year.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
