A survey shows in two major markets of the video gaming industry that the PlayStation brand is more recognised than the competition (Nintendo and Xbox).
Prophet Brand Relevance Index‘ 2018 version has been published, and the company created a survey with 11500 customers, asking them about 240 brands in 27 categories whether they are relevant, recognisable for them or not. The first place went to Apple, followed by Lego, and, as a significant surprise, PlayStation! PlayStation finished ahead of Google (#4), Amazon (#8), and Android (#10), making it the only major gaming-focused company in the top ten. Nintendo improved two positions year-on-year, but it was only enough for #11, and Xbox dropped six places to #17.
The American survey asked 12694 customers about 299 brands, and gaming had a weaker result here than in the UK. While Apple still finished first, PlayStation claimed 13th place, and Xbox got to 25th. Nintendo isn’t on the list, while Electronic Arts is at 34th.
Congratulations to Sony. This result is impressive!
