Visual Storytelling With The Sinking City [VIDEO]

Frogwares, known for their Sherlock Holmes video games, now works on something that we can call „promising”.

Dmytro Teplinsky and Andrew Kudriashov, the cinematic artists of The Sinking City, talk about in the sixth video update of The Sinking City how artists and film creators inspire their cutscenes. Thus, they also emphasised colours, lighting, and camera angles, which will affect us as we are in the middle of the story.

Kudriashov says that Charles W. Reed, the protagonist of The Sinking City, will have his sanity level displayed by the colour usage. As an example, using red in a scene would symbolise violence, as well as the colour of the blood. Teplinsky talked about lighting: he says it can tell a story on its own, and it also affects the mood. As we are talking about an H. P. Lovecraft-inspired, open-world investigational game, we can understand their approach.

The Sinking City will be out on March 21 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
