Is Resident Evil Getting A TV Series?

MOVIE NEWS – Deadline reports that Netflix is already developing Resident Evil into a scripted series!

The production company behind the series will be familiar to you if you saw the Resident Evil films – it’s Constantin Films. They are currently looking for a showrunner to lead the adaptation. (A showrunner is technically another term for „executive producer”. An example of someone in a similar post would be The Witcher’s Lauren S. Hissrich.)

Deadline added that the Resident Evil series would expand the games’ universe, deepen its lore, and also keep the basic premise that served as a basis for the movies. The series would go into the inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation (the company behind the zombie outbreak), as well as the post-apocalyptic world caused by the T-Virus. The series is also reported to have Resident Evil’s traditional action elements, as well as „easter eggs.”

The idea sounds interesting, but it seems the series is far from being shot, which means it will require at least 2-3 years to debut on Netflix
