Activision Blizzard: „Layoffs Could Negatively Impact Our Business!”

The company figured out a simple thought process!

Activision Blizzard has laid off several hundred people that did not directly work on games (they weren’t developers), even though 2018 was a record year for the company (and with Bobby Kotick becoming one of the most overpaid CEOs in the United States – we discussed both subjects). Laying off 8% of the workforce, and its results were mentioned in the company’s Form 10-K document, which is required to be published annually in the United States, giving a recap of the company’s financial performance.

In it, they basically said the grass is green. Really, they did by saying „the consequences of the layoffs could negatively impact our business.” PCGamer jokingly points out that the „negatively impact” phrase shows up 48 times in the document. There’s also some funny sentences like „If we do not consistently deliver popular, high-quality content in a timely manner, or if consumers prefer competing products, our business may be negatively impacted.”

Activision Blizzard is saying such trivial things…

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
