Anthem: Is Sony Forced To Refund The Game?

Is BioWare‘s game so broken that digitally bought (PlayStation Store) copies have to be refunded by the Japanese company?

On February 22, Anthem‘s 1.03 patch came out, which, on paper, should have fixed the issue that caused the PlayStation 4 consoles to crash entirely. On paper, because on Reddit, there’s still discussion about several reports of Anthem crashing the console altogether, forcing the players to hard reset altogether. The funny part is that even the Xbox One seems to be affected as well.

Another topic revealed that Sony (who doesn’t tend to do this…) offered a complete refund regarding Anthem. „Sony is aware of the issue and is offering a complete refund on Anthem no questions asked. Took me 5 minutes,” one comment said. Another user had a similar experience: „The game is broken on PlayStation 4. [Sony’s customer support chat] helped right away, no problem at all. Just provided some account info after that, that they needed, and then it was refunded.”

Others didn’t have such luck: „I tried with Sony Support (chat) and was refused a refund. So, this doesn’t seem to be working for most of us,” one user, and another person was told that they should simply stop playing Anthem.

The last time we saw such a debacle regarding crashing/refunds was in 2016 with No Man’s Sky.
