Metal Gear is a weapon of American intelligence, according to Russia

According to a member of the Government, Metal Gear seeks to encourage protests among young people.

The less surprising news. According to a story published in the newspaper The Moscow Times, a high command of the Government of Russia have described the Metal Gear saga as a weapon used by U.S. intelligence agencies to manipulate the public and encourage protests among the young against the authority.

These words are the work of Andrei Kartapolov, Deputy Minister of Defense of Putin’s Government, in a speech where he also had time to assert that the United States is using artists, politicians and media personalities of “non-traditional” and “openly hostile” communication in an effort to discredit the “civilized State, cultural ideology and the religious identity of Russia”.

Returning to the territory of video games, the truth is that, if the game is a weapon of intelligence, this is openly disused since the franchise suffered a setback with the departure of Hideo Kojima’s Konami after finishing the development of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to which was followed by a Metal Gear Survive whose outcome was far from the usual quality of veteran Japanese action series.
