The recently revealed Tesla Cybertruck (which quickly ran into problems during its demonstration…) didn’t wait until April when it might be seen in a video game officially for the first time.
Recently, we wrote about how the Tesla vehicle’s demonstration had issues with the armoured glass (we’ll get back to this subject a bit later), but still, the weird-looking vehicle might show up in Cyberpunk 2077. We’re using the word might because there is no official announcement yet whether CD Projekt RED’s game could use Elon Musk’s creation or not.
Until then, here’s the first, albeit unofficial, video game adaptation of the Cybertruck: it got into a classic game. 1997’s Goldeneye 007 isn’t a bad game at all (Rare’s work was stellar on the Nintendo 64, and it even offered hours of fun even in multiplayer!), and now, we can already see how James Bond’s tank on the Streets level has been converted into Tesla’s trapezoid-shape vehicle. It… fits, doesn’t it?
Did Musk take inspiration from this game?
Someone tell @elonmusk his brilliant idea came from the most brilliant video game over 20 years ago ?☝? #ElonMusk #Cybertruck #GoldenEye pic.twitter.com/W9BYQPoCsR

Meanwhile, Musk has explained on Twitter why the Cybertruck’s demonstration ran into trouble during the armoured glass test not once but twice: „[The] sledgehammer impact on [the] door cracked [the] base of [the] glass, which is [the] why steel ball didn’t bounce off. [We] should have done [the] steel ball on [the] window [first], *then* sledgehammer the door. Next time…”, Musk wrote. (He meant that before the glass demo, he used a sledgehammer on the door.)
We should believe him, as he also shared a slow-motion video, on which Franz von Holzhausen, the lead designer, used the same steel ball on the Cybertruck prototype’s armoured glass without problems as the one used during the demo. At least he admits that the design does need a bit of work!
After Tesla having Cuphead in a few of its cars, seeing its expansion in gaming isn’t surprising.
