Final Fantasy VII Remake: A Demo For Us, Extra Merch For The Japanese [VIDEO]

Square Enix still made it possible for us to play Final Fantasy VII Remake on the day it was initially planned to arrive…

Previously, we wrote about how Final Fantasy VII Remake (or its first episode…) had its demo show up on the PlayStation Network database. Now, you can check out the PlayStation Store, as Square Enix announced that the game, which has been delayed from March 3 to April 10, can be tried in a 7.5 GB demo, which covers the first chapter, featuring the bombing of the Mako 1 reactor. Don’t bother keeping the save file for it – Square Enix confirmed that you can’t use the save file in the demo in the retail game whatsoever. Why? The Japanese company also announced that the contents of the demo may vary from the retail version of the game. Those who get the demo until May 11 will get an exclusive PlayStation 4 them when the game launches.

Naoki Hamaguchi, the co-director of Final Fantasy VII Remake, told VG247 that Red XIII will not be a playable character in the game. However, he will be „a guest character that fights alongside you during the last part of the story.” Why? Because they think he joins too late in the game, and we wouldn’t have enjoyed his development and growth due to a lack of time to do so. What a weird decision by Square Enix.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia announced two Final Fantasy VII Remake-related merch items. One of them is a PlayStation 4 top cover that is only available for the base, default PS4 model. Pre-orders are up, the price is 4000 JPY, and it will be shipped at around April 10.  The other product is a wearable neck speaker that can be pre-ordered now. The price is 29380 JPY, and it will be shipped at around March 20.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch on April 10, exclusively on PlayStation 4. Until then, you can play the demo. The game’s gone gold, so the discs’ manufacturing has started.
