WiLD Suddenly Gives A Sign Of Life

Michel Ancel‘s WiLD  game has been quite silent in the past few years, providing no serious updates in the process, but something might be happening behind the scenes.

Ancel’s a French genius – he created Rayman, he worked on Beyond Good & Evil (which will get a sequel as a prequel, and it will be quite different than what the first game offered), and he also works on a PlayStation 4-exclusive. It’d be WiLD, with Wild Sheep Studio as its dev team. Regarding this game, a Reddit user posted an entire album’s worth of concept art that we embedded below. These images are from the studio’s website.

Ancel announced WiLD at the 2014 Gamescom, and since then, we have seen several events (Microsoft cancelling Scalebound, Nintendo becoming a market leader from a backmarker by ditching the Wii U in favour of the Switch, the PlayStation Vita died, and the Nintendo 3DS is also essentially semi-dead…). „WiLD is set in a lush, expansive world where you will learn and adapt to the ever-changing world around you, whilst uncovering the secrets of the land. As you would expect from mother nature, the world will continually change through different time of day, weather and seasonal changes,” reads an official description.

Sony Interactive Entertainment filed a trademark for the game at the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in March 2019. Ancel promised „strong updates during the coming year,” which never happened. We also saw some job offers at Wild Sheep Studio as well. Ancel has also stopped posting on Instagram after July 2018, when he visited Guerrilla Games (the devs of Horizon Zero Dawn and the Decima engine).

WiLD is slowly becoming something like Rockstar Games’ Agent (a game not cancelled but binned a long time ago). Perhaps Ancel and Sony can prove us wrong if it is now a PlayStation 5 title.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
