Half-Life 2 Remastered is mentioned by Steam but it is not a new Valve game but a fan mod

Although there will be a remastering of Half-Life 2, it will be a mod and not an official Valve game.

If Half-Life fans are experiencing one of the best moments in decades with the resounding arrival of Half-Life: Alyx and the rumors that the good reception of this could lead to the desired Half-Life 3 , now comes a news Bittersweet: The Half-Life 2 Remaster has been listed in the Steam database, but as a mod and not as an official Valve game.

According to SteamDB, this project refers to Filip Victor’s upcoming Remaster Mod , who is behind the community’s top-rated free and extensive title updates . This mod features deep lighting, countless bug fixes, and a new user feedback mode . A task that aims to become somewhat more official than it was until now.

The Half-Life 2 update comes with a complete review of shadows in detail and full high dynamic range lighting (HDR). It also has new particle effects and improved fog. Everything indicates that Half-Life 2 Remastered is the next version of this entire compendium, most likely improved, or at least a new one based on it that will change the graphics of the game considerably.

Currently, there is no date on when this remastered mod will come out.
