Scarlet Nexus: CGI Trailer And Gameplay Of Bandai Namco’s Cross-Gen Anime RPG [VIDEO]

Bandai Namco has mixed the two genres – they fused CGI with gameplay. It’s better than nothing.

During IGN’s Summer of Gaming 2020 broadcast, Scarlet Nexus was also shown to the viewers. This game was announced in May, during the Inside Xbox broadcast. Back then, all we knew that the action-RPG will launch on Xbox Series X (and, via Smart Delivery, which we will discuss a bit more in detail later today, Xbox One), but since then, the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 trio was also mentioned as target platforms.

In the second video, we see an interview with Kenji Anabuke (the director of Scarlet Nexus) and Keita Iizuka (the producer), and it’s quite a weak one, as the translator wasn’t in the best of form, so congratulations to IGN for being somewhat unprepared for this situation. At least we see some solid background footage of the sci-fi city environments, and that’s enjoyable.

Back in May, we mentioned the background story of Scarlet Nexus, and it’s worth recapping it: „In a far distant future, a psionic hormone was discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers and changing the world as we know it. Just as humanity was entering this new era, deranged mutants known as Others began to descend from the sky with a thirst for human brains. Highly resistant to conventional attack methods, extreme measures needed to be taken to battle the overwhelming threat and preserve humanity. Those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the onslaught from above. To this day, psionics has been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force (OSF), humanity’s last line of defence.

Take on the role of Yuito Sumeragi, a recruit to the OSF aiming to become an elite psionic like the one who saved him as a child. Armed with talent in psycho-kinesis, explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and uncover the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in Scarlet Nexus.”

Scarlet Nexus has no release window yet. It’s in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. At least Bandai Namco didn’t sell us blatant CGI as gameplay.
