Deathground: A Mix Between Alien: Isolation And Dino Crisis [VIDEO]

Jaw Drop Games brought out a big project as a new studio.

Alien: Isolation was one of the best games of 2014 – in it, we didn’t have a lot to defend ourselves against the Xenomorph, and a single mistake resulted in our untimely death. Now replace the space station with the jungle and the alien with dinosaurs, respectively. With that, you’d get an experience close to what Deathground is meant to be, and Jaw Drop Games openly claims it wants to go for that first-person horror touch.

They opened a Kickstarter to make the project possible. At the time of writing, 24 days are remaining for the campaign with 53349 USD funded of the 100422 USD (80K GBP) target. According to the description, you can play this game solo, or with up to two friends in co-op. „Players form a group of professional hunters and survivalists on a mission to the ‘Deathground’ to retrieve high-value loot. The game features dynamic gameplay enriched with objectives, stealth and combat; unpredictable AI dinosaurs; special character classes; a range of items and weapons; and truly terrifying environments, harnessing the power of Unreal Engine 4,” reads the official blurb. The game will offer three character classes (scout, engineer, hunter – is it Evolve…?).

Dan Da Rocha, the co-founder of Jaw Drop Games (he previously worked on the first two Q.U.B.E. games and Hue), claims the studio has self-funded the game’s pre-production, and now they are looking for crowdfunding to make Deathground enter full production. „We’ve been building the foundations of the game for over six months now and have been carefully planning our production pipeline and creative strategy. We’ve come to Kickstarter because we’re confident there’s an audience out there for this type of game and we’d love for the community to help shape the game experience, so together, we can create something incredible,” Da Rocha said.

Seeing how far the campaign is with the funding, we can expect it to be successful. Then, Deathground will launch on PC in Steam Early Access in Q3 2021 (so at least a year away). Ranked matches? PVP? Depends on the support.
