Microsoft Wants More Third Party Titles In Its Game Pass Service

Phil Spencer says Microsoft still has “unannounced surprises” regarding Game Pass.

Game Pass is one of the most important assets of Microsoft, both for the present with Xbox One and PC to the future with Xbox Series X. The subscription service that allows us to access a wide catalog of games quickly and directly is, for many, decisive when opting for a console. From the Redmond company they know this and want to strengthen their advantage.

Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, recently posted a tweet talking about the service, and about their idea of trying to bring as many third party games as possible to the service. Every time the Game Pass catalog is updated, new games are added; Titles like Resident Evil 7 or Crusader Kings III are some of the next to enter. But it seems they want to go further.

Spencer does not specify much more about it, but hints that they intend to increase the number of third party games in the Game Pass catalog the day they come out as a novelty. The titles of the Microsoft division, that is, the company’s first party games, are always available on launch day, without the service subscribers having to pay more or even buy the games; it is enough to just have an active account of what is known as the “Netflix of video games”.

From Xbox they have said that they still have “some great announcements on Game Pass”, in relation to games that are going to arrive at the service. It seems to continue growing catalog of third party games and is an aspect that can be decisive in the launch of Xbox Series X. At the moment, Microsoft is reserving some cards, as we are waiting for the price and the release date of the new Xbox family console.
