Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time Remake: Is It One Of Ubisoft Forward’s Surprises?

We already hinted that Ubisoft’s show might get leaked ahead of time… et voilá.

Yesterday, we mentioned that Ubisoft Forward‘s second show will be held in one week, on September 10, at 7 PM UTC, with a pre-show starting an hour before it. „And we wouldn’t be surprised if these so-called yet-to-be-revealed surprises end up getting leaked, prompting us to talk about them before the official announcements, making Ubisoft slightly irritated in the process…”, we wrote yesterday, and we already have a topic: rumours say that the French publisher’s ideas include the revival of Prince of Persia (and no, we do not consider the VR escape room that we mentioned a while ago as a mainstream title). We heard this a month ago, when MAX, a Guatemalan retailer, listed the game, and it got backed up by Bloomberg’s reporter, Jason Schreier.

Now, on the ResetEra forums, a user with the nickname Okabe started to tease that Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, the 2003 reboot of Prince of Persia, is going to get a remake that Ubisoft will announce during the second Ubisoft Forward, It’s not a remaster (which makes sense, as the game launched nearly three console generations ago; but tell that to Shadow Man, which launched FOUR generations ago on PS1, N64, PC, and SEGA Dreamcast, and yet, it is getting a REMASTER).

Let’s hope that Jordan Mechner, the creator of Prince of Persia, will also be involved in it if the remake is true. He also said before that he wants to work on this IP again. Perhaps Ubisoft finally decided to listen to him, even though they tend to focus on live service titles (the newest one of the crop is Hyper Scape).

At this rate, everything will be leaked once again, leaving Ubisoft with no surprises. (We learned about Far Cry 6 before it was confirmed in July, too.)
