Demon’s Souls Is Not Hitting THe Next-Gen Benchmark [VIDEO]

Digital Foundry’s analysis claims that the benchmark that both Sony and Microsoft should hit will not be reached by the remake developed by Bluepoint Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio of the PlayStation 3-exclusive title.

Demon’s Souls’ remake, according to the leader in technical analysis, will not run on 4K resolution and sixty frames per second. Instead, one of the PlayStation 5 launch titles will go for 1440p resolution and sixty frames per second. However, in return, the frame rate is going to be stable as a rock (no drops, according to Digital Foundry) – it consistently stayed at sixty frames per second, and they also compared the PlayStation 3 original with the PlayStation 5 remake. The site adds that there could be another mode which allows 4K resolution but only a 30 FPS frame rate with better textures and fidelity. So it’d be the same that a PlayStation 4 Pro could offer…

Keep in mind that it’s not the store version of the game (which would be weird as the discs’ manufacturing haven’t started yet), so there could be last-minute changes to the PlayStation 5 firmware, but if the 1440p/60 FPS is meant to be „the performance mode,” then we’re not even close to the thought of 4K, 60 FPS.

„[…] In addition to beautiful shadow effects and ray tracing, players can choose between two graphics modes while playing: one focused on fidelity, and one focused on frame rate.” So the PlayStation 4 Pro’s legacy continues: if you want to get a higher frame rate, you can give up some of the graphical details and vice versa: if you want beautiful visuals (4K) but lower FPS, you can do it,” we wrote in June. Yeah… the 4K could be there, but not with the frame rate you’d expect. Nice marketing, Sony. We expected more.

Demon’s Souls is going to be a launch title, so it’ll launch on November 12 in North America and November 19 in Europe, respectively.
