Two of Ubisoft‘s upcoming games have slipped out of the current fiscal year (that will end in March 2021).

Until now, the plan for Ubisoft was to release Far Cry 6 on February 18 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia, and Rainbow Six Quarantine was set to launch by the end of March 2021 as a cross-gen title. Now, we can forget about all that, going by Ubisoft’s newest financial report (which doesn’t need to be discussed: like every other publisher, they are filthy rich, and have highly positive outcomes…).

„Benefitting from this strong momentum and despite having moved Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine to 2021 to 22 to leverage their full potential in the context of production challenges caused by COVID-19, our new non-IFRS operating income targets for 2020 to 21 remain within the boundaries we set back in May. Being able to maximize the long term value of our IPs while at the same time maintaining solid financial targets highlights the increasing recurring nature of our revenues, the strength of our portfolio of franchises, confidence in our holiday season release slate and current supportive industry dynamics,” Ubisoft’s statement reads. Since then, the French company confirmed that both Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine is set to launch in the first half of the next fiscal year, meaning they’d arrive between April and September 2021.

Ubisoft aren’t saints either – what about Beyond Good & Evil 2 (which we discussed in detail before)? What about Skull & Bones? What about the internal investigation about sexual harassment throughout the company? Will Sam Fisher ever get a proper return, or is Splinter Cell doomed to have just guest roles and mobile titles?

Everyone is delaying nowadays.
