Don’t Expect Gotham Knights This Year!

The list continues to grow as time goes on: another game is now confirmed to move its launch window from 2021 to 2022…

After Gran Turismo 7 and Hogwarts Legacy, their previously planned 2021 launch have officially been pushed back to the next year (and regarding Horizon Forbidden West, we have heard rumours about a delay). Now we can add Warner Bros. Games Montreal‘s (Batman: Arkham Origins) next game, Gotham Knights, too. If that’s not enough, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment might have published the shortest press release ever. (Even though it’s not as short as the PS1’s price announcement from 1995!)

„Gotham Knights will now launch worldwide in 2022. We are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players. Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to showcasing more of the game in the coming months,” Warner wrote. That’s all they had to say, but we can suspect the real reason behind it: the coronavirus global pandemic starts to show its effects now. With games planned to arrive in 2020, there wasn’t much of an impact, but the titles for 2021 are now suffering from the pandemic (and we might have discussed this subject before). Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, and Gotham Knight prove the point.

Gotham Knights (which will be a cooperative-focused title) will launch in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (presumably Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Let’s hope they won’t ditch the PS4/X1 ports, and this coming months comment might be hinting at June when E3 might be held (albeit digitally due to the obvious reasons).

We should guess what’s going to be the next game that gets such a delay from 2021 to the next year…
