Xbox Series: The Quick Resume Function Will See Improvements

The Xbox Insider members can soon experience the improved Quick Resume, which already had a positive response.

Microsoft announced on its website that the Alpha and the Alpha Skip-Ahead groups (the highest two tiers) got the update, where you can see all the games that support Quick Resume from the Guide menu. Also, another improvement is that the download speeds can be increased by easily suspending the games. You can delete the Quick Resume save states to free up space on your SSD, or to make room for other titles that support this feature.

The Xbox Insider program is essentially Microsoft’s response to Steam’s early access ideas, allowing a few members to test updates ahead of the public release. The only caveat is that some updates might be buggy, but this is why Microsoft doesn’t just put the updates out to everyone from the get-go. Proper testing is required and is always welcome.

There’s also the addition of an „audio passthrough” option for the media apps. (You can find this via Settings > Audio > Advanced > Allow Passthrough.) This setting allows users to send audio from apps like Netflix straight to their audio setup, which would circumvent any compression or other changes caused by the Xbox’s audio system, potentially granting a significant boost in audio quality if you have a high-tech speaker setup. So if you notice some quality loss, this function would help fix it. There are other small fixes (missing icons, dodgy controller inputs, the occasional crash or freeze when using certain apps). However, the Quick Resume update is still the main improvement here.

The Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S launched on November 10, and we have yet to see how confusing they were to customers. However, Microsoft doesn’t reveal sales data anymore, but then again, they have revenue from Xbox Game Pass, which was discussed earlier today due to its next April update.
