Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart: A Good Reason To Get The Day 1 Patch [VIDEO]

It’s not because Insomniac Games might have fixed a few more bugs between the game going gold and it seeing a digital launch; it also allows you to unlock some performance modes.

Insomniac Games revealed in a tweet that if you install the day one patch for the game, then the new Ratchet & Clank game is going to get the modes aimed at performance, meaning you’ll gain both the Performance Mode and the Performance Ray Tracing Mode. The former focuses exclusively on sixty frames per second, while the latter will likely focus on it while having RT enabled, but likely on a smaller resolution as a price.

All of the modes will use a base dynamic resolution, which will then be upscaled to 4K with dynamic injection. This is a technology that Insomniac Games used for its previous game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The third mode will be Quality. 4K, 30 frames per second, ray tracing.

James Stevenson, the community manager of Insomniac Games, celebrated the franchise’s evolution on the PlayStation Blog: „Looking at the evolution, from the PS2 console in my dorm room on a 13″ screen TV – to now Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – in glorious 4K HDR with ray-traced reflections and 3D audio in my headphones, it’s been amazing to see the way two best friends have evolved right alongside the console.

Swag and rare Ratchet & Clank artifacts dot the rooms, many of these items come from my personal Ratchet & Clank collection. Several more are props from the original TV commercials for the PS2 console (though they have been shrunken a bit for this video!). You might even see some glimpses of toys from other IP that Insomniac Games has created and developed during those timeframes,” Stevenson wrote, mentioning the video embedded below.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, thanks to the PlayStation 5‘s compression technology, will only weigh 34 GB on your SSD. (33.75 in the US, 34.33 GB in Europe, respectively, the difference is in the localization). The game will launch on June 11, exclusively on PlayStation 5, which is rare, as the new Horizon, Gran Turismo, and God of War will all be cross-gen titles.
