Turbo Overkill announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC!

Apogee Entertainment‘s new game Turbo Overkill will be released in 2022.

Publisher Apogee Entertainment and developer Trigger Happy Interactive have announced Turbo Overkill, a “ferocious first-person shooter” for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store). The game will be released in 2022.

Here’s an overview of the game via its Steam page:

With stunning cyberpunk visuals, Turbo Overkill, heavily inspired by evergreens like DOOM, Duke Nukem, and Quake, is Apogee’s most ferocious first-person shooter to date. You take on the role of half-metal, half-human, half-crazy Johnny Turbo, augmented with hidden arm rockets and a chainsaw that protrudes from your lower leg to kick the crap out of your enemies!

In this “Blade Runner-meets-DOOM” hellscape, Johnny returns to his hometown of Paradise to find the entire population has been invaded by Syn, a rogue AI and his army of extended henchmen. Desperate to raise enough money to overcome his past mistakes, Johnny takes on the impossible task of destroying the most incredible AI ever created. Of course, the rival bounty hunters want the prize first. Nothing is easy in Paradise!

Turbo Overkill takes over-the-top to unprecedented heights. Activate Hero Time (TM), a new form of slowdown, with a twist. Build incredible speed by running up the wall and speeding. Slide your chainsaw legs, eviscerating enemies and opening bosses to critical damage, and surf the hoods of flying cars. Blast away with the Twin Magnum, which captures and destabilises multiple enemies, the Boomer shotgun with its attached grenade launcher, or the Telefragger sniper rifle, which teleports Johnny inside the enemy before it explodes from the inside. The first-person shooter genre is about to get wild and fun again!

“Turbo Overkill is fast, frenetic and ferocious – the epitome of overkill,” said Sam Prebble, one of the heads of Trigger Happy Interactive. “This is the game we’ve always wanted; making it is a dream project. Ruthless enemies, extremely lethal and fun weapons, speed and precision above all else – if you love Quake III Arena, modern and classic DOOM or Apogee’s legendary first-person shooters, you’ll feel right at home in Paradise.”
