Peacemaker Trailer Outlines The Origin Story Of The Character Played By John Cena [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – The first trailer for Peacemaker is out, and it’s safe to say this guy hasn’t gotten any smarter.

The Suicide Squad debuted in cinemas this summer, but writer-director James Gunn didn’t say goodbye to the DC Universe just yet, as he’s also made a series about one of the anti-heroes for HBO Max. We recently saw a short scene from Peacemaker, and tonight’s DC FanDome debuted the first trailer for the eight-part series, which also revealed the premiere date!

Before the trailer was unveiled, the director and cast revealed a few details about the series and filming. The cast really enjoyed working on the project, and Steve Agee, who has worked with Gunn many times before and reprises his role as John Economos in Suicide Squad, said he had never seen the director so fired up. One reason for this may be that Gunn admits he was given a free hand by the studio and “couldn’t believe they were letting him shoot this”.

In response to a fan question, John Cena, who plays the title character, said that the hardest part of playing Peacemaker is having to play a “super s*ckhead”, when normally he just plays “regular s*ckheads”. Fans also asked if Peacemaker will become a more likeable character in the series, but no one dared to answer because it would have been too much of a spoiler, Jennifer Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt (who also appeared in Suicide Squad and is Gunn’s partner), said that despite all his bad qualities, you can root for the anti-hero.

And here’s the trailer for the series about the anti-hero who will even kill for peace, in which Peacemaker does look like a real jerk, but the fun kind, and if nothing else, his eagle eye certainly loves him. The series debuts January 13 on HBO Max, with Gunn writing the script and directing five of the eight episodes.
