A24 Presents Its First Fantasy Film: The Legend Of Ochi

MOVIE NEWS – Isaiah Saxon will direct the upcoming A24 movie, The Legend of Ochi

A24 is one of today’s most exciting film production companies. Although it is not yet 12 years old, the company has managed to mark the pulse of alternative American cinema with great cult titles such as Moonlight, Minari, Lady Bird, and the recent Lamb, which the press is highly praised. If Lamb the production company went into horror films, now it is taking a step further to bet on fantastic cinema with the upcoming title The Legend of Ochi.

This film tells the story of a young girl who runs away from home and learns to communicate with animals in a dialect called Ochi. While there is not much information yet, it has been confirmed that the director will be Isaiah Saxon, co-founder of the animation studio Encyclopedia Pictura and a music video director. He has worked with artists such as Björk, Panda Bear, Dirty Projectors, Kanye West and Grizzly Bear. This will be his feature film debut.

As for the cast, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Finn Wolfhard and Helena Zengel have been confirmed as the central figures in this film. Zengel will be in charge of playing the young woman and has already had her Hollywood breakthrough with the film News of the World, in which she starred alongside Tom Hanks.

Another interesting fact about The Legend of Ochi is that the original music will be provided by Dave Longstreth of the band Dirty Projectors, with whom the director has previously collaborated. No release date or teaser has been released yet, but we know that Saxon will also be in charge of the script and that A24 is looking to expand across genres.
