Spider-Man – No Way Home breaks records in cinemas

MOVIE NEWS – The arrival of the new Spider-Man movie was preceded by huge anticipation, and that anticipation was clearly demonstrated around the world and here at home after the premiere. The twist and turns of the multiverse mash-up was loved by audiences and critics alike, with more than 189,000 viewers at home from Wednesday to Sunday to see the unique adventure of Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei and their namesakes.

Attracting more than 189,000 viewers in one weekend, Spider-Man – No Way Home was this year’s most-watched film by a huge margin, while also being one of the top 5 films with the strongest opening weekend. And that’s not all! The huge buzz surrounding Spider-Man’s latest adventure was enough to break the studio’s record: it became Sony’s best opening ever!

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now the third-best opening of all time, and this year’s No. 1 film, based on first weekend ticket sales. Four days was enough to buy $587,000,000 in tickets worldwide, with $273,000,000 of that spent in the United States.

At the end of the screening, the audience agreed: for a few hours, they forgot all about their problems and were as absorbed by the story, full of adventure, humour, drama and, of course, crazy sights, as Peter Parker was by his love, MJ, in the opening scene of the film.
