Facebook/Meta Voted 2021’s Worst Company!

TECH NEWS – The company now known as Meta is considered by many to be the worst company today, according to a survey.

Facebook didn’t get a lot of positive news this year, which may be why Mark Zuckerberg renamed it to Meta, taking the Oculus brand into the cemetery, as VR/AR headsets will hit stores next year under the Meta name. We’ve heard that Facebook (the social networking site) is not good for your mental health either, and the whole company went down for several hours during the autumn, with no Messenger or Whatsapp available. You could say it was an annus horribilis for Zuckerberg’s team…

Every year, Yahoo Finance produces a survey, to name the best and worst companies. Microsoft was named the best in 2021, but Facebook was named the worst company by over a thousand people surveyed. Zuckerberg’s company received 50% more votes than the Chinese trading company behind it, Alibaba. Why all the negative votes for the Meta crew? Censorship, the impact of Instagram on mental health, and the issue of privacy. Interestingly, 30% of respondents think the company can still redeem itself over time.

According to the survey, “One respondent said Facebook could redeem itself by acknowledging and apologizing for what it did and donating a “sizable amount” of its profits for a foundation to help reverse its harm. While some people saw the Meta rebrand as a cynical attempt to change the conversation… others were excited by the potential of a new direction that could a) be interesting and b) something different from the ageing social media model.”

And then there’s the fact that Facebook has been fighting with Apple over App Tracking Transparency, which allowed users to be tracked through the services and apps they could access if they wanted it. Apple slowed Zuckerberg’s growth, but it cannot be argued that users should decide whether they want tracking or not
