Keanu Reeves Would Be Honoured To Star In The Matrix 5

MOVIE NEWS – If Lana Wachowski wants to continue beyond The Matrix: Risen, Keanu Reeves is in.

The fourth instalment in The Matrix franchise, The Matrix Resurrections, seemingly came out of nowhere. However, according to Keanu Reeves, it really looks like we can expect more to come. In an interview with Fandom, the actor expressed that he would be willing to step back into Neo’s shoes again if director Lana Wachowski wanted him to.

“That’s a Lana Wachowski question.”

“I mean, if she wanted to do another story and wanted to include me I would be honoured and grateful, and I’d like to see what happens to Trinity and Neo, and the world,” Reeves said.

Reeves clearly has a lot of faith in the filmmaker, as well as a genuine interest in the future of the characters and the franchise as a whole. Her co-star Carrie-Anne Moss, who reprised her role as Trinity in The Matrix: Resurrections, echoed Reeves’ sentiments about another sequel, saying, “Totally [would be in it], of course … it would be amazing.”

Newcomer Priyanka Chopra Jonas would also support the plan, should Lana Wachowski want to continue her forays into the world of The Matrix. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who joins the sci-fi action series as a mysteriously younger version of Morpheus, is a little more cautious: he wants to see audience reaction before he goes into such speculation.

Warner Bros. is also keen to continue the story beyond Resurrections: Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff recently said that the upcoming adventure was “originally conceived to reboot the series on the big screen,” and that “anytime Lana [Wachowski] wants to make a movie, we’re all in.”

The Matrix Resurrections, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, is scheduled to release The Matrix in theatres on December 22, 2021, and will also stream it digitally on HBO Max in the U.S. for a month starting the same day.
