MOVIE NEWS – The stars of the Matrix series are leaving the door open to another collaboration in the John Wick universe.

 

 

It’s perhaps not an exaggeration to say that as “cool” as the Matrix was back then, the John Wick series is just as cool today, at least in some respects and within its own genre. In The Matrix Resurrections, Carrie-Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves are back together, but we could easily see them side by side again in another cinematic universe. The fourth Matrix film is currently in cinemas, and Moss promotes the movie a lot, often with Reeves. In a new interview with People, the duo hinted that they could reunite for the John Wick series, the fourth instalment of which is due in cinemas in 2022.

“I love John Wick,” Moss told the magazine.

“I really started to understand Keanu’s outrageous gift for telling story through his body. And I didn’t fully understand that until I went deep into John Wick with one of my children. It was very bonding for us too. It was amazing to have that experience with my son and to watch the depth that Keanu is able to [create] with his body. It’s really an art form.”

Reeves replied, “That’s kind. Thank you. I’m going to stay with Trinity, I think. But in all your performances, your eyes, I always see what’s behind the eyes, what communicates. And there’s always such a present-ness and even in vulnerability, a strength.”

Laurence Fishburne, who starred alongside Moss and Reeves in the previous Matrix films, will also appear in John Wick 4. Asked if there was any chance of Moss joining the franchise, Reeves noted that “that would be fantastic,” and then asked Moss, “You want to play an assassin?”

“I’d love it,” Moss replied, adding that he would “start practicing” for the potential role. Keanu Reeves then suggested that he would actually watch it come to fruition, adding:

“Okay. Let’s get on that… Be careful what you wish for. I’m on it now.”

Regarding The Matrix Resurrections, Reeves suggested that they all went into the new episode assuming that there would be no next film. Because of this, the actors made sure to enjoy their time together during filming. As Reeves says, “This one felt more emotional, just feeling like we’re not going to do it again, so I was trying to soak it all in.”

As for the new Matrix, it’s already playing in cinemas, and so far, it’s attracted mixed reviews from audiences. If all is true, John Wick: Chapter 4 will be released on 24 March 2023 – at least according to the latest reports, but considering the previous delays, we may have to wait even longer…
