Ken Levine Still Refuses To Unveil New Game; Sticking To Cryptic Hints…

Ken Levine has been working for many years on this project, which as yet has no approximate release date…

The success of titles such as Bioshock and System Shock 2 have made Ken Levine a significant player in the industry, as his ideas have captured the imagination of many gamers. His career has led him through the closure of Irrational Games and the creation of Ghost Story Games, a new studio with fewer employees, to where he is now: a period of stagnation. Of course, Levine’s fans have been waiting for news of his next game ever since, but it’s been years since he’s done that.

“We didn’t want to go down the path of showing [the game] too early, because we thought it was going to be out sooner…”- Ken Levine

Now Levine has decided to give a general overview of his project in the Arcade Attack podcast, as reported by Gamespot. Despite this, the creative didn’t provide specifics, instead of sticking to an assessment of what gamers can expect: “I think people will be surprised, but unsurprised by what they see,” Levine explained cryptically. “In equal measures. But it is yeah… it’s quite something, quite interesting, and I’m looking forward to showing it to people.”

Beyond this terse description, Levine also spoke about the future announcement, “We didn’t want to go down the path of showing [the game] too early, because we thought it was going to be out sooner,” he said. “I think that gamers want to be… they want to know what they’re getting, and the only way to do that really is to announce closer to launch.”

It’s safe to say that the title’s development is causing a stir. Shortly after the start of the year, several Ghost Story Games employees and former employees criticized Ken Levine for his shoddy management, so it’s no surprise that the game has been in the works for years without any spectacular results. As for one of his flagship franchises, Levine reiterated in the same interview that he is completely distancing himself from Bioshock, meaning he will have no role at all in the fourth instalment.
