Gran Turismo 7 Reveals PlayStation 5 Space Requirement

Gran Turismo 7 is one of the most anticipated PlayStation exclusives for 2022

In less than a month and a half, we have a date with Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital’s new driving game for PlayStation that will try to win back the love of those who, away from the competitive multiplayer component, are looking for a more classic experience. Combining both worlds, the title will look to have a strong focus on collectibility, which made us wonder how big it will be on the different platforms.

Thanks to the official PlayStation website, we’ve learned the storage space required for the game on both PS4 and PS5. In addition to requiring a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online and indicating that up to two players can play locally, it highlights a required space of 110 GB, that is, what we will have to leave free on our disk to be able to install it.

It should be made clear that this does not specify how big the game will be on launch day. For more specific information, we went to PlayStationSize, an unofficial account that usually gives an accurate preview of the number of gigabytes that games take up on Sony’s consoles. They note that Gran Turismo 7 will be 89.5GB in size on PS5 without considering the day one patch that we’re used to from the companies. The pre-download will be available from 25 February.

If confirmed, the size is undoubtedly an eye-catching figure. For context, Gran Turismo Sport is over 100GB at the moment, so the seventh instalment would take up less than its predecessor. It’s likely to be outgrown due to the updates that will be coming, but it’s a surprising comparison to start with, to say the least.

Gran Turismo 7 launches on PS4 and PS5 on 4 March, with a host of cars, extensive customisation and tracks to look forward to and some old favourites returning. This is the case of Daytona International Speedway, which will be available again this year after disappearing after the sixth instalment. From it, we had a gameplay video that allows us to see the cars driving around the track with both interior and exterior camera shots.
