Tom Cruise Flys Again – This Time In The Latest Trailer For Top Gun: Maverick [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Top Gun: Maverick, giving fans a chance to see Tom Cruise back on the air.

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Top Gun, subtitled Maverick, referencing Tom Cruise’s character. More than three and a half decades later, the sequel, which would have brought the actor back for a new aerial adventure, has been repeatedly delayed due to pandemics. It’s now in cinemas on May 27, and if you want a fresh look at the film, you can check out the trailer below.

Joseph Kosinski (Only the Brave) is directing Top Gun: Maverick. The film is based on the story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks, with a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer and Christopher McQuarrie. In addition to Tom Cruise, who will once again play the title pilot, the film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris and…

…Val Kilmer, who reprises his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, now an admiral.

In fact, before shooting began, Tom Cruise made it a priority to cast his Top Gun co-star Val Kilmer in the film. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that Cruise was determined to have the actor in the movie and explained that although everyone on the Maverick team was on board, Cruise, more than anyone, insisted that it should happen.

“He said, ‘We have to have Val, we have to have him back. We have to have him in the film,'” Bruckheimer said, according to People. “And he was the driving force. We all wanted him, but Tom was really adamant that if he’s going to make another Top Gun, Val had to be in it.”

Of Kilmer, Bruckheimer added: “He’s such a fine actor, and he’s such a good individual. We had such a good time on the first one and wanted to bring some of the gang back together again… It was a really emotional experience for all of us. It was a long time getting there, but we did.”

Fans will be able to see Maverick and Iceman together again on the big screen when Top Gun: Maverick hits cinemas on May 27, 2022.
