The Last of Us Actor Says The Series Is “In Good Hands”

MOVIE NEWS – Pedro Pascal also confessed that he couldn’t finish The Last of Us, but he saw Joel as a fantastic character.

Fans of The Last of Us jump at every little bit of news that comes out about the series. After all, HBO’s offering is constantly adding new characters, and based on recent leaks, and it seems to be following the game very closely. While Naughty Dog’s small screen adventure already looks very promising, Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel, has added to the anticipation.

“So it really is made for the people that love it” – Pedro Pascal

“There’s a very, very creative way of honouring what’s important and also preserving what is iconic to the experience of the video game, and also [to include] things that you wouldn’t necessarily expect,” the actor explained in an interview with GQ. “And then directions that you would expect it to go, and it might not… they’re doing some really smart things, is all I can say.”

“It’s similar to the way Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni treat The Mandalorian, in how [Mazin and Druckmann] are treating The Last of Us – it’s in good hands because they love it so much.”

“Well, clearly Neil created the video game, but Craig loves it so much. So it really is made for the people that love it. And there’s some very intense storytelling for people who might be less familiar,” Pascal concludes in the interview.

But the actor admits that he is not skilled enough to finish the game, despite his efforts. “I found Joel so impressive – I found the whole of it such a visually impressive experience. And then I got worried that I would want to imitate too much, which I think could be right in some circumstances, and then a mistake in others.”

Not surprisingly, Pascal says the series is a faithful adaptation, with some episodes directed by Neil Druckmann himself. Of course, HBO is constantly raising expectations for the subsequent adaptation, though we know we’ll have to wait a long time for that. In fact, it seems that The Last of Us will not premiere until next year.
