Kao The Kangaroo Returns! [VIDEO]

Tate Multimedia’s best-known project, Kao the Kangaroo, is bringing the kangaroo back to the platforms with a massive modernisation and we don’t have to wait too long until his arrival.

Kao the Kangaroo was originally released on SEGA’ Dreamcast in 2000 and quickly became very popular with the fierce kangaroo wearing his legendary boxing gloves. Twenty years later, Tate Multimedia decided to revisit the retro game and make a modernised version that would appeal to PlayStation, Xbox and PC gamers as well. And the game is coming out in the 27th of May!

Kao is a cheeky, brave and temperamental kangaroo who embarks on a life-changing journey. The game’s story follows Kao as he sets out to find his lost sister, while also trying to find the answers to what happened to his long-lost father. To do so, Kao must battle many master warriors possessed by “dark forces”. Players will be treated to an exciting adventure, beautiful, detailed and vibrantly coloured visuals, and a fun gaming experience.

According to Tate Multimedia, the story will be engaging, the combat and boss fights will be exciting and challenging, and the game itself will be a fun experience for all ages.

“We’ve been blown away by the response we’ve had from gamers since we announced Kao the Kangaroo was making a return earlier this year,”

“With this new chapter, we’ve set out to make sure the new Kao the Kangaroo both honors his previous outings and offers fresh, contemporary gameplay for fans new and old alike. This is a complete reboot for Kao, and we can’t wait to see how people take to it at launch!”

Kao the Kangaroo will be released as a 3D platform game on May 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam. The digital release will be €29.99 / $29.99 / £24.99, and the physical release will be €34.99 / $34.99 / £29.99.

In addition, a demo of Kao the Kangaroo will be available to play at the Limited Run Games booth at PAX East 2022, which takes place April 21-24 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
