MOVIE NEWS – Gone in the Night stars Winona Ryder as a woman who searches for her boyfriend after he disappears with a mysterious woman while visiting a remote cabin.

Vertical Entertainment has released the first trailer for the upcoming horror film Gone in the Night, previously titled The Cow. The directorial debut of Homecoming co-creator Eli Horowitz, Gone in the Night stars Winona Ryder (last seen in Stranger Things season 4) and Dermot Mulroney as an unlikely pair investigating a bizarre mystery. The film premiered at the SXSW film festival to primarily positive reviews earlier this year and is due in cinemas on 15 July. You can find the trailer at the end of this article, but first, let’s see what you need to know about the film!

The official synopsis of Gone in the Night foreshadows a thrilling horror-thriller.

“Upon arriving at a remote cabin in the redwoods, Kath (Winona Ryder) and her boyfriend Max (John Gallagher Jr.) find a mysterious young couple already there – the rental has apparently been double-booked. With nowhere else to go, they decide to share the cabin with these strangers. When her boyfriend mysteriously disappears with the young woman, Kath becomes obsessed and enlists an unlikely supporter (Dermot Mulroney) with finding an explanation for their sudden breakup – but the truth is far stranger than she could have ever imagined.”

Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Young Guns) plays the owner of a cabin who helps Kath find her boyfriend. The trailer for Gone in the Night reveals that they do indeed find her, but it only raises more questions and even casts doubt on Mulroney’s character. “I thought he’d abandoned me,” Kath screams at one point, suggesting that at least she’s found some closure, but it’s probably very devastating and, judging by all the blood, horrific.

Gone in the Night also stars John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), Owen Teague (Montana Story, The Stand) and Brianne Tju (Light as a Feather, I Know What You Did Last Summer). Eli Horowitz is directing the film, which he co-wrote with Matthew Derby. The film will debut in select US cinemas on 15 July and will be released on VOD on 5 August 2022.
