Wesley Snipes Was Not Asked To Make a Blade Cameo In New MCU Action Movie

MOVIE NEWS – Wesley Snipes would like to return to the MCU in the movie Blade, but Marvel Studios has not yet knocked him for such an offer.

As the weekend and San Diego Comic-Con approaches, Marvel fans anticipate news on several upcoming projects, including Blade. However, one thing that may not be on anyone’s radar is the inclusion of Wesley Snipes in the MCU’s new vampire hunter.

Snipes played Daywalker from 1998 to 2004, and the trilogy of Blade movies helped launch the Marvel universe in the cinematic world before Spider-Man and the X-Men came out. A return has been long overdue in today’s superhero movie genre, and a few years ago, it was announced that Blade would be joining the MCU, casting Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali, who finally made his official debut, if only in voice, in the aftermath of last year’s Eternals but only for a cameo.

Ali’s casting has been praised by many, and Snipes is among those who believe the actor will be a great Eric Cross Brooks in the Marvel Studios reboot. “Anyone who is good at acting usually does very, very well, and I think he’s done pretty well so far, so I have a lot of confidence in him,” Snipes said. In the same Forbes interview where he talked about his recent comic book project, THE EXILED (which launched via Kickstarter), Snipes also mentioned that he still hasn’t been approached by anyone at Marvel Studios about his special appearance in Return of the Blade .

Snipes mentioned that he picked up on the rumours, saying, “I’ve heard it from other people who have heard it from other people”, but in reality, no one has approached him directly to jump in as the MCU’s Blade. Still, the actor said he’s more than open to returning to the franchise that has given him so much in a cameo capacity. So this, combined with Marvel Studios’ usual misleading tricks, means that fans shouldn’t rule out a possible cameo appearance.

Several years ago, comedian and actor Patton Oswalt accused Snipes of bad behaviour on the set of The Blade – Trinity, although no further evidence of the alleged aggressive incidents has since emerged. The former Blade also served two-and-a-half years in prison between 2010 and 2013 for tax-related crimes, so it’s questionable whether that will factor into Marvel Studios’ decision to bring him back for a cameo.

Despite the overwhelming excitement of Ali’s casting, some fans are concerned that Marvel Studios’ decision to keep The Blade PG-13 could hurt the film. After all, Snipes’ former co-star Ryan Reynolds is currently the only superhero with a confirmed R-rated movie in Deadpool 3.
