Many Announcements Expected At PlayStation Tournaments: EVO Lounge

In addition to the Evolution Championship Series 2022, featuring fighting games, Sony is also preparing an extra streaming event where several publishers will share new information about some of their games.

After all, Sony is a co-owner of EVO, so the PlayStation involvement is undeniable. It is complemented by an announcement on the PlayStation Blog from Sony Interactive Entertainment about live broadcasts of PlayStation Tournaments: EVO Lounge. Here, the company says there will be “exciting content and reveals “from developers and publishers: Arc System Works, Bandai Namco, Capcom, SNK, and Warner Bros. Games.

We’ll give you a guess as to who will talk about what. For Arc System Works, there’s a good chance it’ll be the second season of Guilty Gear Strive, possibly new content for DNF Duel (the former already had a survey, albeit only in Japanese), Bandai Namco might discuss JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, the originally PlayStation 3-exclusive but now multiplatform revamp, but also a possible hint at Tekken 8 (between the arcade release of Tekken 6 and 7, roughly seven-to-eight years passed, and it’s been around that’s how long it’s been since Tekken 7 launched there), Capcom is almost sure to bring Street Fighter 6 (although the character roster and designs have already leaked and we’ve written about it), SNK is preparing a content expansion for King of Fighters XV, Warner Bros. Games is preparing MultiVersus, or PERHAPS something regarding NetherRealm’s project (Mortal Kombat 12? Injustice 3?).

The broadcasts will be available on YouTube and Twitch on August 5 and 6. In addition to the new news, we’ll get “a few sneak peeks of what’s ahead”, but we’ve explained that in the previous paragraph. EVO 2022 will take place from August 5 to 7 in the United States (Nevada, Las Vegas). A detailed schedule is available on the event website.

Let’s see how many of our predictions will be correct.
