Gothic Remake Gets A Short Trailer [VIDEO]

Watch a short new trailer for the upcoming remake of the classic RPG Gothic. The trailer shows some environments, a mine and spiders.

THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for the remake of the classic RPG Gothic. The trailer shows the graphical improvements to the original RPG that have been made in the remake. Watch it below.

Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t really show any gameplay. Rather, it takes us through a few environments, while showing various interactions between NPCs.

The trailer finally ends with a giant spider attacking a miner and dragging him away before a horde of spiders attack another miner.

The Gothic remake is being developed by a newly formed studio called Alkimia Interactive and not the original development team, Piranha Bytes. In any case, publisher THQ Nordic has decided that a remake of the classic Gothic with the new team is a good idea and they’re trying to gauge interest with a playable teaser.

Gothic received a few screenshots last year, showing off the game’s dark, gloomy environment.

The original Gothic was released back in 2001, and was the very first game from German developer Piranha Bytes, as well as the first in the series. While the first two parts of the trilogy were quite a success, the third part and the German team’s other trilogy, Risen, have enjoyed a very modest popularity. Risen 3 was released in 2014, for PC and Xbox 360 and PS3, and since then Piranha Bytes has not developed anything.

Gothic is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There is currently no announced release date for the game.
