Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Will Be Expansive And “Classic” [VIDEO]

Team Ninja’s game structure won’t be much different from what we’ve seen so far from them.

Masaaki Yamigawa, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s producer, told Spanish Vandal that the game will have the classic mission structure seen in Nioh, with smaller, non-interconnected maps. According to the producer, the decision was made because the focus is still on combat and action, so there wouldn’t be a significant departure from the two parts of Nioh or the Ninja Gaiden titles.

The maps will be complex, though: there will be multiple paths to the end and more secrets to discover. Yamagiwa also talked about the game’s length: he estimates that it will take approximately forty hours to play through the game and that this estimate could be even higher if you include side missions and post-story content. So it’s not a game that can be done in a weekend: it’s a game that will take an entire week.

In June, we wrote about the game: “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty follows the dramatic, action-packed story of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms. Players fight off deadly creatures and enemy soldiers using swordplay based on Chinese martial arts, attempting to overcome the odds by awakening the true power from within.

It’s madness in the Three Kingdoms like never before! A dark fantasy set during the chaotic Three Kingdoms period, the narrative vividly tells the tale of a militia soldier’s brutal fight for survival during a Later Han Dynasty infested with demons. Defeat deadly enemies to boost morale and awaken the power from within! Overcome adversity through unique new strategies, including battle styles based on the “Five Phases.”

Renowned for ruthless strikes that can instantly change the tide of battle, sword practitioners of the Chinese martial arts gracefully change pace as they shift between offensive and defensive manoeuvres. Overwhelm opponents with a flurry of force in a series of intense and bloody battles while learning the precision and skill necessary to become a true master of the sword.”

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2023. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from launch day.
