Rick and Morty Promote God of War: Ragnarok in a Funny Commercial [VIDEO]

Watch Rick and Morty roleplay as Kratos and his son in this God of War commercial. “Why do we do anything? For money? – Yes, but not this time.” – can be heard in the mental dialogue.

In a promo spot for the premiere of Rick and Morty Season 6 on Sunday, the duo “assumed” the roles of Kratos and his son Atreus to promote this year’s God of War: Ragnarok.

In the ad, Rick shaves his head and applies red paint to his face to mimic Kratos’ iconic face tattoo, before handing the ever-fearful Morty a toy bow and arrow and pushing him through a portal into the Nine Realms (worlds of Norse mythology in which the 2018 -as God of War and the sequel take place). There, Morty suffers the humiliation of a crow attack while Rick grabs Kratos’ Leviathan ax “and other unannounced enhancements”.

Why is this happening? Good question. “Why should we do anything, Morty?” asks Rick. “For money?” – suggests his grandson. “Yes, but not this time,” says the scientist not very convincingly.

Rick and Morty has promoted PlayStation games before. In 2019, they appeared in a clip parodying Death Stranding. Morty is currently playable in Warner Bros.’s fighting game MultiVersus.

God of War: Ragnarok is one of the vanishingly few major video games sticking to a late 2022 release date. It will be released on November 9 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. I suspect that, like Rick, we’ll be quite happily throwing ourselves into the Nine Realms when he arrives.
