Brendan Fraser Might Even Get An Oscar Nomination For The Whale?!

MOVIE NEWS – The Whale has been very well received at its first screenings, with some suggesting that the film could even earn Brendan Fraser his first Oscar nomination.

Veteran actor Brendan Fraser has starred in some very successful films, but the Mummy star has yet to be nominated for an Oscar. As an outstanding actor, Fraser has received recognition at the recent awards, having been nominated for the Saturn Awards, Teen Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards and many more. He recently won the acting award at the TIFF Tribute Awards for his role in the new Darren Aronofsky film The Whale.

From the first screenings of The Whale, the film is said to be incredibly good, thanks in part to Fraser’s performance.

The likeable star plays a 600-pound recluse who, amidst his health problems, hopes to reconnect with his daughter (Sadie Sink). Some have gone as far as to suggest that Fraser will be nominated for an Oscar because his performance in the film is so good and perhaps marks a new career high for the actor. Some say Aronofsky and Sink could also get nominations. This suggestion has made many of Fraser’s fans happy, as the time may finally be suitable for their favourite to appear at the Oscars.

“People have walked out of the screening of The Whale with nothing but high praise for Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink. With speculation of Oscar nods for both,” reads one tweet. “I’m excited. When Aronofksy succeeds, he really succeeds. He is one of Hollywood’s great 21st century tragedians.”

“The fact that Brendan Fraser winning an Oscar is a genuine possibility and not just a pipe dream of mine has been a GENUINE source of joy for me. I’m so happy for him,” writes film critic Adriano Caporusso on Twitter.

“Absolutely thrilled to see Brendan Fraser getting raves out of #Venice79,” tweets a third Fraser fan. “A man that I drooled over in The Mummy, laughed with in George of the Jungle and will root for come Oscar time in The Whale.”

The Whale will hit US cinemas on 9 December 2022.
