Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty: An Intense Challenge For All

Team Ninja has confirmed that we will not have a choice of difficulty level…

Team Ninja has been known since the Ninja Gaiden reboot to shred you to a pulp if you’re not careful (the same could be said for the two Nioh games). This approach will not change for Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and now you might even be prepared for a challenge beyond the level of FromSoftware (Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Souls series, Bloodborne)…

Masaaki Yamagiwa, the producer of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, said about the single difficulty level: “We’re thinking it’s ‘good’ to have one set difficulty so that everyone has the same experience of overcoming an intense obstacle and they all have that feeling of achievement like I did it. But the caveat there is giving players all different ways to do that.

Wo Long is not an easy game by any means, but we’re working to give players as much freedom and agency to play it as they want and overcome obstacles in their way. One thing that comes to mind is the moral system. You have a moral rank, and as you keep increasing it, you get stronger, and you can use that to choose which enemies to fight or raise it so you can take on a more challenging enemy and maybe they’ll be a little bit easier now that you’re stronger.

You can also level your character like a traditional action RPG and get stronger. There’s multiplayer as well, so you can get online with your friends (two other people), so a total of three online and then take on bosses as a group. We’re giving players their ways to be able to tackle all these things. That’s important to Wo Long’s game design,” says Yamagiwa.

So there will be no mercy here. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is coming in early 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
