Fortnite Chapter 4: Alongside Geralt, Another Guest Star Joins [VIDEO]

Geralt of Rivia will not only appear in Lost Ark next year in the West (we talked about it yesterday) but also in Epic Games’ still-going-strong battle royale game.

Fortnite has received another massive update, which Epic Games has dubbed Chapter 4. It has seen the addition of Augmented Abilities, a new island, and the appearance of Doom Slayer in the battle royale. We didn’t typo there: the main character from the 2016 reboot of DOOM and its sequel, DOOM Eternal, has joined Fortnite. There are dozens of new locations on the new island, including The Citadel, a massive castle, and Brutal Bastion, which awaits players on the snowy mountains.

Those who have purchased the game’s new Battle Pass can now play as Doom Slayer, allowing them to take on the costume of id Software’s new silent but a relentlessly brutal killing machine. Geralt of Rivia from The Witchers isn’t in the game yet: his skin will appear in Fortnite later in the season. The Augmented Abilities will change the gameplay: two random augmentations will be given at certain intervals during matches. For example, certain weapons will reload faster, and the longer you stay in the game, the more of these extra perks and abilities you’ll be able to collect.

As previously promised by the Tim Sweeney-led company, Fortnite is already incorporating more of the technology that emerged in Unreal Engine 5 with the launch of Chapter 4. Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution have all been added to the battle royale courtesy of UE 5.1. Several new weapons have been added, including the Ex-Caliber Rifle. It’s a powerful semi-automatic weapon that fires a blade at your opponents, and it will explode moments later, according to Epic’s announcement.

A video of the new Fortnite update has also arrived. The game has gotten prettier, and Epic Games shows that Unreal Engine 5 will be powerful (it’s no coincidence that CD Projekt RED switched from their REDengine!).
